The Journal of Humanity & Social Justice encourages authors to make their research data publicly available in recognized and trusted repositories to promote transparency, reproducibility, and further research. Authors should deposit data that supports their research findings and provide a statement in the manuscript detailing the data’s availability.
Recommended repositories:
Authors are encouraged to use Social Science repositories such as ICPSR and Harvard Dataverse.
Preprints: Authors are allowed to deposit preprints of their manuscripts in recognized preprint repositories such as arXiv or bioRxiv before submission.
Postprints (Accepted Manuscripts): Authors may archive the peer-reviewed version of their manuscript (without the journal’s formatting or logos) in institutional or subject-specific repositories. Any embargo periods will follow the journal’s open-access and licensing policy.
The Journal of Humanity & Social Justice strongly recommends that authors ensure their data complies with the FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable). To achieve this, authors should:
Assign persistent identifiers (e.g., DOIs) to their datasets.
Use standardized metadata formats for proper indexing.
Choose repositories that support long-term data preservation.
Open Access Repositories: Data should be deposited under open licenses such as Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) to allow sharing, adaptation, and reuse, including for commercial purposes, provided proper attribution is given to the original author(s).
Embargo: Authors may place an embargo on their data when necessary, provided the reason and duration are clearly specified.
Authors must cite all datasets used in their research following standard citation practices (e.g., including DOI). Example format:
Author(s). Year. Title. Repository Name. DOI
If the dataset cannot be deposited in a repository, authors must submit it as supplementary material along with the manuscript. The journal will ensure these materials are accessible to readers.
As a fully open-access journal operating under the Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) license, The Journal of Humanity & Social Justice supports archiving of published articles in institutional or subject-based repositories. Authors may:
Archive the published version (Version of Record) of their article without restriction.
Deposit the accepted manuscript version in institutional repositories without embargo, in line with the journal’s open-access policy.
Authors must ensure their data-sharing practices comply with their funder’s policies and mandates. If specific repositories or licensing terms are required, these must be adhered to during the deposit process.
